When I was younger I didn't encounter any symptoms of asthma, not a single sign. However, when I started working and teaching I have a co worker that smokes every after lunch, sometimes during lunch and I usually sit with her. That probably lasted about six months and after that I gradually started having some breathing problems and it asthma took over for the following years to come. Now I don't smoke. I hate the smell of it and the smell of people who smoke. Although, my mom and my husband used to smoke but they quit. So it's all good now. I just can't stand being near somebody who smoke. My sense of smell is just too strong that I can't take the smell.
I can even tell if the person smoke discount cigars or the regular cigarette. There's a difference on the smell. I also found an article from National Cancer Institute that talks about how cigars differ from cigarettes. I think its a great information. Check it out if you have some time.
