Cold Air Intake?

A cold air intakes is a device used to bring lower temperature air into a car's internal-combustion engine, to increase engine power and efficiency.

You must be wondering why I am blogging about this one. Well for some reason the engine of my suv has been really noisy and when I ask my husband he mentions something about air intakes. I didn't really have a lot of time to ask him to explain to me what it is. So I turn to old Google to check the information.

Apparently, all cold air intakes operate on the principle of increasing the amount of oxygen available for combustion with fuel. Because cooler air has a higher density (greater mass per unit volume), cold air intakes generally work by introducing cooler air from outside the hot engine bay. This term is sometimes being used also to describe increasing oxygen to an engine which can cause the temperature that comes into the engine.

Okay, well that's a lot so information to absorb. Too many technicalities for us women. Good thing I have my husband to take care of things that concerns my vehicle, otherwise I am completely useless. Literally! I think my brain is just not wired for this kind of stuff. I think most women are not wired for this thing but I am definitely hands up to those women who knows a bunch of stuff about cars.
