Vaginal Dryness: What to do?

All women will encounter vaginal dryness at some point in their lives but menopause is the most common reason. Some other reasons are:
  • chemotherapy
  • prescription drugs
  • breastfeeding
  • ovarian dysfunction
  • strenuous exercise
  • fatigue or stress
When you encounter dryness itching and burning is the next problem that you will have to face. For most women the dryness can be a direct result of low estrogen that occurs for those who are in the stage of menopause or after the ovaries has been removed or other times in life. When the level of estrogen decrease the tissues naturally becomes thin and elastic, drier and fragile.

If you have this problem, there are a lot of options that you can consider, however self care is one of the most important one. This include increasing your water intake to make sure that you body is properly hydrated. Avoid products that may increase dryness like soaps, detergents, bubble batch, douches, feminine sprays and other products with allergens, dyes and fragrances.

Whatever the cause of this problem is, it is always important to consult your physician or health care provider so you can treat is as soon as possible.
