Toddler Teething

There's good news and bad news to this one. When your child is younger it's harder to tell if the reason they are crying is because they are teething. However, giving them medicine for the pain is easier.

When your child is teething and they are on the toddler stage they can tell you what is wrong but the type of medicine that you are using before may not be as effective now due to the fact that your child is much older now.

My daughter is teething again and the swab medicine that we are using don't seem to work that well anymore. Plus she actually hates it now. But since she is a bit older now, she can find some other ways to soothe the pain. So we don't have to rely on the medicine soother.

If your toddler does have teething trouble, here are the symptoms he's most likely to experience:

• Drooling (which can lead to a facial rash)
• Gum swelling and sensitivity
• Irritability or fussiness
• Biting behavior
• Refusing food
• Sleep problems

If for some reason, you are seeing any other symptoms, it is always safe to check with your pediatrician.
