Read To Your Child

Do you have a child who loves to read? Do you read to them? How often do you read them books? Do they like it?

These are just some of the questions that as a parents needs to ask. As parent I am constantly looking for ways on how to make my child learn more and explore each day. Reading so far is one of the things that I do with her. At the age of 2 I can say that she has develop a liking with books. I don't know how it started but she just loves to look at books and pretty much can tell me the story if I read and describe it to her once or twice.

We borrowed this book from the library called "Curious George's Opposites" and it is about opposite things. I read it to her probably 2 or 3 times and now she can tell me what is in the book.

It amazes me at how fast she can grasp the idea of the images on the book that I am showing her. And since she has been interested with books, I thought I'd squeeze in translating the name of the animals from one of the book into Tagalog (Philippine's Language). I want her to learn (hopefully) my language so if we go home, she will not have a hard time. Plus, it's also a good idea because she will be able to learn 2 languages.

So if you are a parent or soon to be parent, start early now. You'll never know kind of opportunity and doors you are opening to your child by teaching them that value of reading.

My little Sage just turned 2 and he loves books. Amazing as it is and as young as they are, children at this age is the best time to train their brains. Sage memorized the order of the story and we love to do filling in the blanks. We read the story to him and we stopped, and he filled the blanks perfectly. It's fun because he also learned to read the words that way. Right there, we realized that he understands the story as well. Keep doing what you're doing because it is for the best of your child. Sage is now memorizing the 44 presidents of the united states. It's a little process but we are getting there. hehehe

My princess loves books. I read to her every night. I love the fact that she prefers reading over watching TV.
