Think you are helping your children by doing everything for them? Think again. Experts overwhelmingly say chores teach responsibility and help them feel they are contributing to the household. Of course the added benefit of a clean house is great, too! But what chores are rep asonable for kids to do? Toddlers and small children can put away their own toys. Preschoolers can make their beds and dusts with a feather duster. School age kids can set and clear the table and help fold or put away laundry. Get creative , and even have your child suggest which chores he or she might like to do. For toddlers like my child, make chores as a sort of game and as fun as possible. And now whenever I tell her to clean up her toys she thinks she is playing. Well, she doesn't clean up her toys all the time but she is only 23 months old. At least we are on a good start.

This is so true. My 7-year-old is in charge of setting the table for dinner and sweeping the backyard, aside from fixing his bed and keepig his stuff neat. My 3-year-old packs away her things, helps me sort out the laundry.
Yes, getting creative is key. To teach them to put clothes in the hamper, I put a basketball ring on top and they just "shoot" their clothes in. This also works for toys. =) Saves me time.
Btw, have an award for you. http://ubercarol.blogspot.com/2008/09/kind-blogger-awards.html.
