Be Proactive Not Just Reactive

Identify theft is the fastest growing crime in the US and when it comes to protecting our identity we all need to be proactive not just reactive.

A recent article from Washington Post stated that Federal prosecutors charged 11 global theft which sold 40 million card numbers. Imagine 40 million, I cannot imagine how much they have made on those 40 million cards. Officials said that the people who were charged were part of a crime ring that targeted United States, Eastern Europe and East Asia.

With all of these news about identify theft, I sometimes wonder if it is even safe to do things online or use credit cards. What about the news about people digging through your trash trying to get a piece of information. It seems like all these theft are just lurking around, they are everywhere. I know the government is probably doing their best to make sure that consumer are protected but is it enough? Sometimes you just wonder what happen to all of the taxes that you are paying if your not getting the protection you need.

I don't think I can take it if my identity is stolen or that they will use my information for something. Just last month when I had some issues with my debit card being charged for something I did not buy, I was in a bad bad mood. I don't think I can handle it. Good thing I have a husband that deals with all of these crap. I feel that I am going to have a heart attack and seeing my husband yell to those people, it was a pretty bad week. We end us sending affidavit of dispute to the company just for them to put the money back to my account. But in the end if was taken care of, so we were able to breath.
